Here’s what you’ll need to get started!

• AQUA-Tech® or AquaCulture Home Aquarium Starter Kits
• Aquarium Gravel (1 to 1 ½ pounds of gravel per gallon)
• Decorations, such as plants or rocks
• Additional Carbon Filter Cartridges* for Power Filter
• Water Conditioner (We recommend Tetra AquaSafe®)
• Fish Food (We recommend TetraMin® Tropical Flakes or TetraFin® Goldfish Flakes)
• Gravel Cleaner/Vacuum
• Aquarium Net (if not included in kit)
• Power strip with surge protector
• Water Test Kit (We recommend Jungle 5-in-1 Test Kit)

For Tropical Fish, you’ll also need:

• Aquarium Heater
• Thermometer

*AQUA-Tech® and AquaCulture Home Aquarium Kits include either the AQUA-Tech Power Filter or Tetra Whisper Filter. The filter cartridge needs to be replaced every two to four weeks to keep your aquarium clean and healthy.

In addition, here are some items that will make your fish keeping experience even better:

• An aquarium stand - remember, a complete aquarium with water, gravel and fish weigh about 10 to 11 pounds per gallon
• Air pump & airline tubing
• Check valve for the air pump
• Air stone or air-driven ornament
• Light timer
• Bucket for aquarium water use
